How we work so well at height
London gardens can present some vertiginous challenges. We will often be working at height over spiked railings or on balconies, and we can be shaping and sculpting topiary, trees and hedges that are 6m tall.
We take the dangers very seriously and are accredited safe contractors complying to rigorous Health and Safety regulations. We establish a Project Operations Manual for each project, a 'live' document which runs for the duration of the job. This is a health and safety plan and risk assessment manual setting out issues including access, hazards, emergency reporting and monitoring in line with the Construction (Design and Management) 2015 regulations. Upon project completion it is saved as a final document, ready should the Health and Safety Executive wish to see it. We believe in setting the highest standards as an example to our sector.

To take this a stage further and provide even better service to our clients, we have trained our teams to use cherry pickers that lift us as high as we need and allow us to work easily with plants at different levels in the same garden. We have access to extra-narrow cherry pickers that can even drive through a 90cm-wide gate, allowing us access to spaces that most contractors can't reach. Utilising this technology means we can work at considerable height very safely.
By using cherry pickers we can avoid:
• the danger of ladders, where Health and Safety rules require gardeners to maintain three points of contact at all times, something that can be very tricky when pruning.
• the expense of scaffolding, which is ugly and cumbersome as well as an added cost for our clients.
